Could Trump win the Stormy Daniels hush money trial, by losing?
“How Trump could win the New York case – even if he loses,” is today’s featured Guest Column, by Ruth Marcus. She believes Donald Trump might be playing his bad legal hand to maximum political advantage. “The first former president to stand criminal trial might have managed to convert that humiliating fact into a political windfall for the moment – and I worry there could be more to come.”
Ruth observes that Trump “seems to recognize the potential public relations value, if not to welcome, the prospect of what would likely be a brief stint behind bars.” Trump is playing it for all he is worth. “Our Constitution is much more important than jail,” he proclaimed. “It’s not even close. I’ll do that sacrifice any day.”
